Review: Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Sticks

My foray into the land of cream eyeshadow sticks continues, this time with Bobbi Brown’s Cream Shadow Sticks in Sunlight Gold and Bark (half-size duo available from Mecca) .

I have to say I’m a bit on the fence about this line! As you *might* remember I have a few of the Chanel Le Stylos and I’d been after a more neutral shade and maybe with a more matte/less glittery finish, well these 2 shades certainly answer those needs! I am LOVING sunlight gold as an overall base for darker colours or a quick pick me up on minimal makeup days. However, Bark has proven to be quite challenging, the shape of the stick(rounded, fat, dome top)  is a bit too big and cumbersome for any tight, liner style work and a bit too dark for me to be doing much more than that. The texture and formula of these are a bit more on the dry side compared to the Chanel. The application is more rough, the darker shade is especially unforgiving, in my eyeshadow challenged hands it honestly looked like a child had smeared crayon on my lids. I’ve found that it only works on creating a ‘smoky eye’ if Bark is layered on Sunlight while both are wet and blend furiously for 3 seconds before it sets. While both lasts fairly well….I’m glad the duo was only $33. I would definitely say the shimmer/satin finish are worth a shot and maybe give the matte/creamy finishes a miss, way too much hassle for what’s meant to be a hassle free product.
