Serious... About Serums

As the winter air gets colder, your skin might need a little boost in protection, nourishment and hydration. Because my skin is temperamental I’ve done a lot of research into serums and oils that help to hydrate without pore clogging oils. These are some I’ve had a lot of success with:

Mario Badescu Rosehip nourishing oil - this is the perfect oil/serum to layer, it sinks in really quickly and really helps to aid your light summer moisturiser to suit winter skin. Honestly sometimes I just put this on under a BB or CC cream and go. The oil really helps the BB/CC glide on flawlessly.

Mario Badescu Acne Serum - Not the most glamorous serum on the list but definitely an essential for those winter breakouts.

Dr Dennis Gross Purity, Hydration and Radiance Boosters - my HG serums. These cute little bottles target specific skin conditions so you can apply them in the areas that need the extra ‘boost’. I go for: Purity on my t-zone, Hydration on my cheeks and radiance on my cheekbones and forehead.

Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution - This little gem came with my set of peels and it definitely works a treatment rather than just extra hydration (tho it does hydrate). The Ferulic acid helps to lighten and brighten skin while the retinol helps to reduce fine lines which…. as a 21 year old I don’t *need* but prevention now = better than cure later.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Serum -  I consider this as my favourite toning serum which I tend to use more in warmer weather as it does contain a bit of alcohol and sinks in faster than you can say “la roche posay”. This is a lighter version of the Dr Dennis Gross brightening lotion, however it uses AHAs as its main active ingredient (so be careful and definitely make sure to slap on something with SPF on over it)

La Nuit De Chanel & Le Jour De Chanel -  I’ve been using this for over a year and it’s still one of my favorite ‘booster’ in my night/morning routine. The whole ‘resynchronising’ collection was made to be used in conjunction with your normal skincare to jazz it up. The formula is light in texture but has loads of Hyaluronic acid to keep your skin nice and supple during the night while it repairs your problematic areas. The day serum is super light and this version has brightening properties.
