Midrifts, squats and Nutella

The past 6 months for me has been really tumultuous; from some amazing "pinch me - is this real?" moments to crippling anxiety that seriously made me question my ability to pull through. But one thing that's held me together was exercise (6 months ago, that sentence would've turned me RIGHT OFF too but hear me out). I joined the gym in late July, after some cajoling from a friend and in the beginning I had no goals (besides being able to feel confident in my tight and short gym gear). I mean, I was at a weight which was healthy for my height, I wore sneakers because of 'athleisure' and I didn't really care for anything to do with the word "deadlift" (seriously, 'dead' and 'lift' is up there with 'arm+pit' in ugly word combos). I started putting in a few sessions after work everyday, just on the bike or the elliptical, mostly to watch reruns of Real Housewives or Keeping Up With the Kardashians(Khloe has been a serious inspiration for me). Before you know it, I had signed up for a personal trainer and I was putting myself down for 'workout challenges'! Recently I went in for a routine check-in and I had lost a tangible amount of weight and a couple of cms from my waist. I was pretty pleasantly surprised because I eat whatever. I mean I love posing with cold pressed juiced but nothing beats the feel of a dollop of Nutella melting on your tongue.

While I'm no Gigi or Kendall, I'm pretty jazzed with myself and felt confident enough to pull this crop top out. 6 months ago I would have had to do some serious sucking in and angle manipulation to wear an outfit like this, but mostly -  I wouldn't feel confident in this, I would spend the whole day holding something in front of my midriff. I also have Halsey to thank, because I heard an interview with her the other day where she was asked about her on stage outfits and she said something along the lines of "who cares? I'm human, humans squish, I squish!" So, who cares? I'm human, humans squish, I squish! I am allowed to squish!

So yeah, that's my sartorial pat on the back for myself...
