Savoury oatmeal

What kind of small minded person said oatmeal had to be a sweet breakfast food? I'm personally a big advocate for breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper because we have a history of stomach problems in the family. With my busy days mean I don't alway get to eat dinner at a reasonable hour and I have a lot of 'breakfast for dinner'. In summer I'm perfectly chill with eating some yoghurt and muesli for dinner but in winter that just doesn't float as well. Lately I've been craving comfort food and eating a lot of oatmeal and especially savoury oats and apparently people think that's "wild". I love oats and it's a perfect (and nutritious) canvas for sweet or savoury toppings, I mean think about it, oats when cooked with just water is just like congee or polenta! I love topping my oats with things like left over chilli (w sour cream and tortilla chips), roasted veggies(with some dukkah for extra flavour and crunch) or my favourite quick feed - avocado, egg, sriracha and nori.

I like to fortify my oats with some LSA and chia for extra omega 3s but honestly go with what you like! Your only limit is your imagination!
